Born on January 23rd 1897 to a middle class Bengali family in Cuttack, Subhash Chandra Bose was the ninth among fourteen children. His father Janakinath Bose an advocate and mother Prabhavati Devi were compliant citizens of the Raj that envisioned a comfortable future for Subhash by sending him to the Anglo School of Cuttack, now known as Stewart School.
